Providing Answers
Dr. Golden conducts developmental assessments for children 12 months through early adulthood. An assessment provides information about whether or not a child is on track with their development and whether or not intervention is needed. It includes assessment of learning or cognitive skills, social-emotional development, academic achievement (when age appropriate), and assessment of behavioral or emotional concerns. Parents who are interested in better understanding their child's development, are concerned about their child's development, want to track their child's development over time, are concerned about a a possible learning difference, or are specifically concerned about the possibility of an autism spectrum disorder can find their answers here. Dr. Golden will make detailed recommendations that the parent can use to promote their child's development on their own, or provide a great starting point for work with therapists or interventionists if needed. The assessment will include interviews with the parent, several hours of direct testing and observation with the child, and a feedback meeting with the parents to explain test results, answer questions, and discuss recommendations. When indicated a daycare/preschool/school observation may be included. Dr. Golden will also provide a written report summarizing the assessment and recommendations.
